The Digital Glossary, introduced to the sector by MAİB, explains numerous technical concepts such as Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, digital twin, big data, the Internet of Things, and cyber-physical systems, using simplified and easy-to-understand definitions. Clarifying terms that are frequently used but not always correctly understood in the sector, the glossary helps especially SMEs overcome the informational barriers they face during the digital transformation process. It serves not only private sector companies but also universities, professional organizations, and public institutions as a reference resource.
International alignment in the transformation process with the Green Glossary
Aiming to provide conceptual guidance throughout the green transformation process, the Green Glossary has been published by MAİB in digital format and in multiple languages. Filling an important gap in the environmental transformation process, which has gained momentum particularly with the European Green Deal, the glossary simplifies key concepts such as carbon footprint, circular economy, life cycle analysis, sustainable production, energy efficiency, and climate risk. By doing so, it helps companies align with this process on a solid informational basis. One of the glossary’s most notable features is the presentation of sustainability-related terms in Turkish, English, and German.

Highlighting the importance of digital and green transformation, MAİB–Turkish Machinery President Kutlu Karavelioğlu emphasized that understanding the mechanisms shaping the digital world and emerging technological developments requires accurate interpretation and conceptualization. He noted that digital terms, which emerge in international arenas and easily transcend national borders, must first be correctly understood in order for their full equivalents to take shape within our industrial culture and mindset. Karavelioğlu continued: “The Digital Glossary was prepared with this purpose in mind and with the valuable support of subject-matter experts. But this is not a finished task, it’s a work that must be continuously updated and expanded as new resources and concepts emerge. We believe that the Digital Glossary, which will continue to be updated with the questions and contributions of tech-savvy individuals closely following global developments, will benefit both professionals and younger generations.
