Türkiye’s net International Investment Position stood at minus 391.7 billion dollars as of May.
Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye released the International Investment Position data for May 2026. According to the figures, Türkiye’s external assets decreased by 0.5% compared with the previous month to 403.7 billion dollars, while its external liabilities declined by 2.4% to 795.4 billion dollars. Reserve assets fell by 6.3 billion dollars to 159.2 billion dollars. As a result, Türkiye’s International Investment Position was recorded at minus 391.7 billion dollars as of May.
Among the asset items, direct investments increased by 0.9% compared with the previous month to 80.1 billion dollars, while other investments rose by 2.3% to 154.2 billion dollars. Banks’ foreign currency cash and deposit assets also increased by 4.6% to 49.4 billion dollars. Equity and investment fund shares, a subcategory of portfolio investments, decreased by 8.6% compared with the previous month to 47.2 billion dollars.
Among the liability items, direct investments decreased by 6.8% compared with the previous month to 230.4 billion dollars, while portfolio investments declined by 2.9% to 149.7 billion dollars. Other investments, meanwhile, increased by 0.4% to 415.3 billion dollars.
