“We expect a significant increase in the Syrian market”
MODOKO Chairman of the Board, Koray Çalışkan, made the following remarks: “The furniture sector, which has reached an annual production volume of 12 billion dollars and employs 500,000 people, saw a positive turnaround in exports starting in October 2024. We are delighted that this upward trend in exports has continued into the first month of the year. With the regulation of customs tariffs in the Syrian market, we expect a significant increase in this market in the coming period. By the end of 2025, our target is to realize 5 billion dollars of exports. At the same time, there are approximately 45,000 furniture manufacturers in Türkiye. In 39,000 of them, only one person is employed, meaning the business owner is also the sole worker. If regulations are introduced to prevent unfair competition in the furniture sector, the industry could rapidly grow and reach a production volume of 20 billion dollars.”
